The birth of a ski resort
At the end of the 1960s, when all the locals were moving away from the hamlet of Montchavin, Auguste Mudry, mayor of the commune of Bellentre (1947 - 1973), decided to transform the village into a ski resort.
The new buildings were constructed in traditional Savoyard style using wood and stone.
Facing Mont-Blanc, La Plagne Montchavin les Coches is the perfect holiday location for families, as proven by its Famille Plus Label for many years, the promise of a successful family holiday! Activities, entertainment, lift passes, kids’ clubs... all guarantee a great holiday for parents and their children!
The site is built on two levels: the village of Montchavin at 1250m and Les Coches at 1450m. The two villages are linked in the summer and winter seasons by a free shuttle bus.
Montchavin has kept the look of a Savoyard hamlet: chalets with wood and stone cladding, a working farm, a chapel, a car-free village centre…
Les Coches and its residences are just a couple of turns from the Vanoise Express, Paradiski’s emblematic cable car. If you are in need of some relaxation, you can go to the Espace Paradisio, the site’s aqua-leisure complex.
Montchavin-la Plagne is located in the Tarentaise range, on the edge of the Vanoise National Park. The winter, Montchavin les Coches are on the heart of Paradiski (La Plagne + Les Arcs) with the Vanoise-Express cable car between Peisey-Vallandry and Montchavin les Coches.
